    RLCBxDChu presents… | Impromptu Photography |

    2011 - 06.03

Shamin and I have been blessed to have amazing photographers as our friends/mentors/role models. For each of us young padawan’s, there is a Yoda teaching us of the Force. I’ve been fortunate to have an amazing friend/photographer in Erich Chen as someone who taught me pretty much everything I know about photography. Shamin has her own in her “Twin,” David Chu. Epic Big Bear Cabin Trip! Day 3!

    2011 - 01.12

A sense of sadness prevailed on the morning of the third day. It had been an amazing vacation, and the thought of returning to our normal lives just seemed.. so… depressing.  Nevertheless, we got up bright and early and had a big breakfast, began to clean up and took some group photos.

During the group photo, and even in the days past, Jesse brought up the notion that jumping photo is an Asian thing to do.  I have kind of a mixed feeling about it, but Shamin says she’s seen other nationalities do it.  Nonetheless, we did a quick photoshoot (with some jump shots) in the backyard with the whole group before splitting up. Epic Big Bear Cabin Trip! Day 2!

    2011 - 01.12

Our second day began at 7:30 in the morning.  The plan was I’d take anyone who need to rent to go rent by 8, and we would start boarding by 8:30, but even the best laid plans of mice and men often goes awry, and ours was no different.

Shamin and I got up and began making breakfast.  Scrambled eggs with cheese, onions, bell peppers, tomatoes and mushroom; waffles; coffee and a variety of juice; and for some, Casey’s epically portioned and epically tasty curry.  By the time everyone was up and done with breakfast, however, it was already close to 9.  Those of us who had to rent didn’t quite make it to the slopes until close to 10 or 10:30ish. Epic Big Bear Cabin Trip! Day 1!

    2011 - 01.11

Even though we’ve known each other before, it was snowboarding that actually got Shamin and I to start talking.  Around this time last year, Shamin had gone up to Mountain High to snowboard with a few of her friends. I was there with my brother and a few of my friends. I had seen Shamin get off a lift, and was convinced it was her. The only problem is that I’m always convinced I know somebody when I don’t. So, this time, I decided I wasn’t going to make a fool of myself and didn’t say hi.  The next day, after seeing Shamin’s Facebook status on how sore she was from snowboarding, I commented, saying I saw her the day before.  About a week or two later, we hung out for the first time… night time snowboarding.  Since the end of last snow season, we’ve been talking about putting together a cabin trip with a bunch of our friends. This is the product of our months of planning. (more…)

    Upcoming adventures!

    2010 - 12.22

January is looking like a pretty big month for me and Shamin.

Back in late October, there was a special deal for Southwest Airlines. Without a destination in mind, we just picked a random spot on the map.

    Portland, Oregon. (more…)

    Pasadena Night Shoot

    2010 - 12.15

When Shamin and I first started talking, we discovered that we both enjoyed photography.  Not that we were going to be professional photographers by any means, but we both really enjoyed taking photos.  It wasn’t long before we realized that we had to embark on epic photo adventures. But there was only one problem: We both work 9 to 5′s.  Well, I worked 9 to 5, and Shamin had the 8 to 4:40 schedule.  So it became apparent that most of our photo adventures were going to be on the weeknights or the weekends.

    Brenda and Hector’s Big Day | Sept. 4, 2010

    2010 - 12.15

I was so excited when I heard the news that Hector and Brenda were getting married.  Hector is the brother of one of my best friends, Eric.  I would say awesomeness runs in their family.  Eric is one of my best friends for a very good reason and Hector is probably the guy I look up to as the Ideal Big Brother.  So when I found out that he was getting married with his high school sweetheart, Brenda, it would be an understatement that I was happy for them.
